WordPress

I made the switch to WordPress this evening, after thinking about making the switch for a while. We’ll see how things go, but I definitely like it better so far. Thanks to Chris — I used the tips he mentioned about his conversion so I could import all of my old posts.

I’ll probably be playing around a bit with the formatting and theme stuff over the next few days. We’ll see.

UPDATE: Apparently, any links I had in the title bar of the posts from b2evolution are gone now. Also, I can’t setup the Permalinks like I want to because it didn’t import the post titles correctly. ::sigh::

So, basically, there’s a lot broken. I’ll work on fixing it, but there’s 100 posts to comb through, and I tend to get lazy quickly. I’ll work on it eventually.

Bye, Bye Acrobat

Well, it was bound to happen.

Microsoft is releasing a competitor to the popular PDF format in their next release of Windows called Metro. Metro will be based on XML and will have royalty-free licensing.

Not at all surprised. Could actually be a good thing, because I hate the proprietary nature of PDF. I’m sure there’s a catch… after all, it is Microsoft.

Ubuntu

Thought I’d update everyone on Ubuntu. I found the Preview Release to be lacking (probably mostly because of my hardware), so it made it less than 24 hours on my system. It had its bright spots, and was way better than anything Debian-based I’ve ever seen before. I’ll have to give the full release a try once I get a free minute.

I’m running SUSE 9.2 again, although I think 9.3 may be available shortly, and I’m definitely going to install 9.3 as soon as I get ahold of a copy of it.

Sorry for not posting lately. I’ve been really lazy. I’m thinking of moving the site over to WordPress, because I’ve been playing with it and it looks good so far.

Have a great day everyone, and hopefully I’ll post again sooner than a month from now.
